My take on the whole Gay marriage thing.

OK. For the record, I am a Christian and one fine day I will post all my thoughts on religion and God and where the world came from, but for now this is about Gay Marriage.

The argument we always get is: homosexuality is a sin and that's why we shouldn't let Gays marry. Fine. Let's start there.

Let's just say for a moment that Homosexuality is a sin. Don't start throwing rotten tomatoes yet, let me finish. OK, homosexuality is a sin. Religion also teaches us that there is no such thing as a hierarchy of sin. One sin is as bad as the next. Christ himself even said "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" when he was saving Mary Magdalene from being stoned to death.

But, if there were a hierarchy of sin, we can all agree that the 10 commandments would basically be God's Top Ten list. In that top ten we have: Thou shalt not lie, and Love thy neighbor and 8 more that I won't go into right now. "No problem" the self righteous among you may say. But there is a problem. Everyone lies. Maybe not big lies like Enron or anything, but we all lie. If you ever tell your kid that a kiss will make his boo boo better, you lied - I know from personal experience that kisses are ineffective pain killers. If you ever perpetuate the idea of Santa, then you lied. If you ever tell your wife her ass doesn't look big in those jeans, then YOU LIED!

So, if Steve wants to suck dick, he isn't going to hell any faster than anyone else who has ever said some one's ass didn't look fat in a pair of jeans. So what's the big brouhaha over gay marriage? So what if two people who don't necessarily fit the norm of what an average American family want to stand in front of a group of their loved ones and profess their love for one another? What does that hurt anyone else? So what, if in your narrow minded view of life, that those two people are going to hell? That's between them and God, and the last time I checked He didn't need any help doling out judgements. That sort of efficiency goes along with the whole Omnipotent thing.

So to my Gays in Cali, congrats! Mazel Tov! And quit telling your girlfriends their asses don't look big in those jeans...you'll go straight to hell!

now if only we can get the rest of the world to think with an open mind of sorts on world issues we would be in a much better place.

Life shouldn't be taken so seriously.
